Our camps are being held up by the Sussex RFU as examples of a club can enhance and encourage rugby. However we are always learning and hope to improve every camp.
This is what we have learnt over the past 18 months.
- Pray for sunshine
- It is more successful if we have more young rugby players in each age group
- Children and adults love BBQ food
- Professionally qualified coaches bring a new dimension to training.
- Kids love rewards.
- The better the planning and the mix of the sessions the more we get out of it.
- It is great for mums and dads to help.
As part of our learning process we therefore are doing the following.
- going to church ( weddings mostly -
but it all counts!!) - targeting 10 children minimum per age group and structuring the day around age groups
-
so get your friends to come. - putting on a BBQ
- Using only RFU qualified coaches.
- Providing some prizes in each age group.
- Setting out a full session plan now
- Anyone who would like to volunteer to help is welcome
